FBackup manages Application Backups effortlessly

I would like to share with readers here a really useful tool called FBackup, which does a tremendously helpful job of helping you back up your applications settings such that formatting your PC will hopefully be a painless process from now on.

At first glance, FBackup looks like a rudimentary piece of backup software. You tell it what to backup, where and how often to do so and it will chug along merrily on its way. The settings are pretty short and simple to understand and it does the job nicely.

FBackup

What sets FBackup apart from the rest of the pack is the powerful plugin manager it has, allowing you to expand the capabilities beyond performing simple backups of directories.

Windows 95 runs on iPhone

Can you believe this? Windows 95 can actually run on iPhone! With the help of Bochs emulator and an original Windows 95 image, a group of developers have managed to install and run Microsoft Windows 95 on Apple’s iPhone.

Unfortunately, the performance was terrible… not surprisingly. The team is eager to try the hack on iPhone 3GS but have yet to find one.

Google announces new Google Chrome OS

In an exciting but anticipated announcement, Google has recently unveiled their intention to create a new operating system based on the Google Chrome web browser which seeks to rethink the way an OS is supposed to work.

Chrome Web Browser

Chrome was a successful web browser that is written from scratch to have a focus on low memory footprints, fast operation and requiring minimum hardware requirements.

Google Chrome

The Javascript handling of the browser is also top notch and allows some pretty interesting experiments such as the Chrome Experiments website, which has a host of interesting and innovative web-based technology showcases that can be run from any browser, but the catch being that unless you have a fairly powerful computer, only Google Chrome will be able to handle the taxing demands of the website as it is optimized to run the complex Javascript codes used in the website.

Upgrade Your Browser with Firefox 3.5!

Firefox 3.5 is now released and ready for download!

Having been using Mozilla Firefox version 3.0 for almost 3-4 months now, I must say I’m totally impressed with this browser and anticipating for its 3.5 ever since the initial announcement. Let’s see what has the new release in store for us:

1. Faster – With the addition of the brand new JavaScript engine called TraceMonkey, Firefox 3.5 promised a two times faster browsing performance than the previous 3.0. This is a time-saver for me since multitasking has been going on and I’m sure many of you will appreciate the necessity of getting a well performed and stable browser.

2. More Privacy Options – The latest version has upgraded its browsing privacy level. Instead of just clearing the browser history, now it provides more options in:

a) Private Browsing: By turning ON this feature via Tools> Start Private Browsing, whatever sites you’ve visited afterward won’t be recorded. Don’t panic when seeing all your other browsers closed abruptly, you’ll get them back by stopping the browsing:  Go Tools> Stop Private Browsing.

KON-BOOT bypasses Windows XP, Vista, 7, Linux passwords

KON-BOOT is a project started by a user who obviously have an infatuation for a character on the Bleach anime. Despite the silly sounding name, this bootable CD ISO/Floppy allows you to hack the kernel of Windows and Linux operating systems on-the-fly. The result? Complete takeover of any machine just by being able to have physical access to it.

We often see in movies scenes, illogical sometimes, involving a person facing a problem of having to guess the password to the villian’s computer. Usually there are some creative ways employed that gives the hero inspiration for guessing the correct password, such as glimpses into the villian’s mind, piecing together clues and other literary licenses. However, in real life it’s not always the case.

Bookmarklet Directory for Firefox, Chrome and Safari

Much have been written and said about the use of bookmarklets as a nifty and fast way of achieving specific things with your browser without the unnecessary need to install extensions that increase browser bloat and takes up a lot of memory to run, even though you are only using them 10% of the time. The advantages of bookmarklets are also that it is cross browser compatible (most of them anyway) and is the only method of adding more functionality to Chrome, as the extensions community for Google’s browser has not yet gained the critical mass compared to Firefox.
