5 reasons why you should start a BANS shop and start making money off eBay

Those bastards at eBay control the online marketplace and being the multi-billion market that it is, cashing in seems a reasonable way to make money online. One of the best way to profit off eBay is to start a BANS (Build a Niche Store), which happens to be one of the hottest and fastest growing money making concept on the web today. What’s important is it actually works!

Here’s why you absolutely MUST setup a BANS store today:

1. USABILITY – BANS are easy to set up and customize – you are offered templates and scripts to help you customize your store. I find it’s a great bargain. For US$97, you get around US$500 worth of stuff. If you buy the template elsewhere and hire a programmer for the scripting, or buy the ready-made scripts from somewhere else, you’ll probably end up hurting your pockets pretty hard.

2. FIRE AND FORGET – You get the benefits of having an online store, but not the nuisances – you don’t need to offer your buyers customer support, you don’t have to worry about shipping the products, you don’t have to worry about order forms and so forth. Just stick the products on your website, directly from the eBay products database and you’’re set for selling and earning affiliate cash. You can easily launch your BANS and let it make sales for you, just check your account regularly to see how much revenue you have made!

This is what they call make money in your pajamas!

Free icons for your websites and blogs

It has always been a pleasure for me to introduce good freebies to my readers. Today, I am going to show you not one, but two websites where you can download and use thousands of free icons.

The first icons website is Iconfinder.net.

Icon finder

The search feature is very intuitive as it incorporates AJAX. The moment you enter any keyword it will auto-complete and suggest some related keywords. In complete Web2.0 spirit, all icons are tagged. Once you have found the icon you are looking for in the search result, click on it to see more details such as the designer, the license and a download link.

Do use the download link (and not right-click-save) to download the icon as this will retain the properties of the icon, such as the transparency property.

Do people wear blindfolds when searching on Google?

Age old question covered in a myth that’s about to be uncovered it seems: is it better to have 1 keyword ranking on the first spot in the SERPs, or two different keywords ranking on the second spot each? If you asked me a while back, I would have definitely gone with the 2 x lower ranked keywords, simply because I didn’t think the difference between the first two positions is really that big. Well… it is apparently, according to SEO Researcher. Check out the following chart which shows the distribution of clicks for the top 10 rankings.

Maybank2u has a new homepage?

I was in for a shock when I logged on Maybank2u.com.my just now. For a moment, I thought I went to a wrong address, or Maybank2u has redesigned their homepage!

Maybank2u

So very colorful ler! In true spirit of the new year! But, do you think it’s a tad too many balloons? 🙂

Although their website doesn’t look exceptionally good and not user friendly at all, but I do believe all of us just love the conveniences it offers. Take for example, Maybank2u allows us to pay all our utilities online at a click of the mouse button. How much time and effort you have saved every month over the years now?!

Maybank2u rawks, despite we are charged to use their services. How much? RM12 a year or something like that? That’s cheap, man!

Ah, I don’t work for Maybank2u.

Free anti-spyware, Webroot Spy Sweeper

Here is a piece of really good news for 2008. Let me tell you how you can download and use the latest version of Webroot Spy Sweeper for free. The software costs US$29.95.

Spy Sweeper is an anti-spyware software specializing in detecting and safely removing spyware and adware from your PC. Spy Sweeper protects you from spyware’s negative consequences, which include a slower Internet connection, pop-up ad problems, reduced computer performance, or in the worst case, the loss of private information and identity theft.

Spy Sweeper

You have doubt on Spy Sweeper? PC Magazine has this to say for Spy Sweeper 5.5, “It’s more effective at removing spyware than at preventing new installations, but the bottom line is it’ll stop most spies. Multiple layers of protection prevent installation of most malware. Did a good job of cleaning up malware-infested systems.”

Sony Ericsson P1i on a WLAN

You all know that I am not good at reviewing stuff. But doesn’t matter, I will do one anyway today about my new baby Sony Ericsson P1i which I have owned for just over a week only… However, I won’t bore you with the technical details or the specs because you can find them all on sites such as CNet Asia.

I will show you something more interesting – the Sony Ericsson P1i on my wireless LAN. But, a hot picture first!

Sexy mobile phone

Next, we look at P1i’s vast connectivity options. The phone supports 3G, Bluetooth, A2DP (means the mobile phone can stream high quality audio to a wireless headset through Bluetooth connection), infrared, USB, and WLAN. I don’t have a 3G account, so not sure how it performs on a 3G connection, but let’s try hooking up the phone through my WIFI (WLAN) network. P1i detected my WLAN without any problem at all and connected to it in a breeze. By the way, my WLAN is WEP protected.
