HP Pavilion 2009f LCD Monitor review

People at HP is kind enough to send us a new HP Pavilion 2009f LCD Monitor. Their dispatch had it delivered right to our office yesterday… it was unexpectedly fast as we had only talked about this a few days before. I wasted no time in unboxing this new baby and hoping to give it a spin right away…

There were nothing much in the box apart from the LCD monitor, there were a few cables, a CD and a warranty sheet. That’s about it, of course it came with the protective cushions also.

Let’s check out some photos of the LCD monitor.

Free Download: Peggle WoW Edition

Addicted to Peggle Extreme that’s available for free on Steam? PopCap Games, the developer of Peggle series of casual action video game, has teamed up with Blizzard Entertainment, the developer of World of Warcraft (WoW), to release a special Peggle: World of Warcraft Edition, available for free download at no cost. Peggle is an addictive game similar to Pachinko which is played extensively in Japan and although this free edition is rather short, it is however FREE and is a great way to explore the wonderful, if slightly drug-like, world of Peggle.

MetatOGGer is your best MP3 tagger and song ID service

I have a huge music collection, somewhere in the order of 60GB worth of stuff most of which I don’t really listen to, but would like to keep around all the same because there’s nothing like telling your friends that you have enough mp3s to last you 25 days of continuous play without having a repeated track.

But in the process of ripping my music CD and converting stuff around, a lot of my music collection are recognizable only by their filenames. They are not properly tagged, meaning the file doesn’t have any artist or album information or any sort of identification whatsoever, other than the filename. This presents a problem to most modern music library management tools such as iTunes, which relies heavily on the tags for most of its features including Genius Playlist, album cover downloads, etc.

MetatOGGer

I have therefore searched almost in vain to find a software that would automatically tag my music collection without having me to interfere with it. There are lots of paid services out there which are no doubt useful for this kind of job, but I want something that is free, being the cheapskate I am, I found something called MetatOGGer. Not a really classy name, but for the price, it offers an unbeatable song ID service.

Windows 7 Released to Manufacturing (RTM), General Availability 22nd Oct

After many weeks of speculation, Microsoft finally confirms that Windows 7 has finally achieved RTM (released to manufacturing) status and they will no longer be changing the OS (producing updated builds, in technospeek) from now until October 22nd when it will be officially available in stores around the world. This means the code is finally ‘set’ in place and no updates will happen until after GA, when they will then start to release patches for it when inevitably hackers discover flaws in the OS that needs to be fixed.

Windows 7

Ever since Windows 7 Beta leaked out, people have sung praises for the OS, citing its speedy interface and stability as a welcome change to Vista’s problems. This was then succeeded by a wildly successful Windows 7 RC1 release, which gave tech enthusiasts around the world a chance to download and try out a Release Candidate, which simply means giving us a peek into the world of Windows 7 without having to spend a single cent. The RC generated a lot of positive feedback and no doubt helped propel Windows 7 into the almost mythic status of being the panacea to absolve Microsoft of the messy negative vibe of Windows Vista.

Integrate Google into Microsoft Office suite

If you are a frequent user of Microsoft’s Office suite of programs, you might find the lack of useful resources from Microsoft’s Clipart particularly annoying especially when you are just looking for a nice little graphics to enhance the document or presentation you are working on. Frequently, I myself am drawn to Google’s Image Search when looking for inspiration, but wouldn’t it be great if you can do it all from within Office itself instead of having to switch between your document and an external image searching solution?

Office sync

Integrates with Google Docs

That’s exactly what Offisync offers you, along with other Google-friendly integrations that strive to make your Office experience that much more productive. The first big feature of Offisync is integration with Google Docs.

This allows you to save your work directly into Google’s servers and opens up the ability to have collaborative editing performed at the same time on one document. It also means that you can have access to any of your Office documents anywhere you go as long as you have an Internet connection: very handy if you are prone to be forced to work from areas that does not have Office installed, or in printing rooms.
