TinyPaste – TinyURL for Long Text

If you have got a long string of text to drop on your blog, in Twitter, or any other chat program that cannot accept long text, then you should check out TinyPaste. Like TinyURL, TinyPaste simply takes in long strings of text and converts them to short URLs, which, when clicked, bring up the original text inside a clean screen.

TinyPaste

This free service is extremely useful for Twitter for example. For Twitter users, you know that Twitter messages can consist of up to 140 characters only. But what if you needed to enter more than 140 characters?… You guessed right, use TinyPaste.

Splicd lets you slice YouTube videos

I know we all enjoy watching YouTube videos these days, but there are just too many videos on YouTube and some of them are quite lengthy. On a long video, sometimes it is hard to get to the good parts. In some cases, the good part could be a few minutes in and you might not have the patience to wait and run through the video… this is especially true if the video is link sent to you by your friend.

OBSCENE Candy for KIDS FAIL… People Pops Candy Toy Product Review By Mike Mozart of JeepersMedia

A web service called Splicd comes to the rescue by letting anyone drop in a YouTube video URL, then set the start and end point.

For instance, you’ve stumbled onto a really good video on YouTube but had to suffer through 10 minutes of complete boredom to get there. You want to share the video with a friend, but you don’t want him to have to sit through the whole boredom for the mere 10 seconds of good stuff. What you need to do? Go to Splicd, paste the URL of the YouTube video, set your desired start and end time, and it generates a custom link that starts and stops the video where you told it to. Give the link to all your friends to enjoy the goodies in the video! 🙂

iGoogle Artist Themes

I know iGoogle isn’t something released yesterday nor are its artist themes. But it’s still interesting to check out what themes there are where you can use to personalize your Google homepage. Yeah, give that simple boring homepage a face lift!

iGoogle Artist Themes

Google has obviously collaborated with many designers/artists to create many beautiful themes for the iGoogle users. They are work of art from fashion designers (Oscar de la Renta), musicians (Coldplay, Beastie Boys), actors (Jackie Chan), sportsmen (Lance Armstrong), photographers (Yann Arthus-Bertrand), choreographers (Mark Morris), cartoonists (Robert Mankoff), illustrators (Camilla Engman), architects (Cameron Sinclair) and more. Discover the underground world of IRC filesharing

As ISPs scramble to block P2P access and throttle torrent connections, many are finding out the frustration of watching their download speeds slow to a crawl, fully realizing that their connections are capable of going so much faster! In the past, there are ways around this, such as using TorrentFlux to bypass the ISP throttle.

TorrentFlux

TorrentFlux is a type of account which works because ISPs cannot throttle direct downloads. That means there is only one open channel between you and a target computer to download files, whereas in P2P, you have hundreds of open channels downloading little bits of the file one by one and is easy to detect as P2P traffic and blocked accordingly. With TorrentFlux (and other similar services), you get a server to help you download the torrent files (the servers are on a guaranteed unfiltered Internet connection, probably overseas) and you simply connect to the server to retrieve your files once they’re done. However services such as these are not free, although there are a few community operated servers that charge a maintenance fee only.

Latest Netbooks: LG Xnote Mini, Toshiba NB100 and Lenovo IdeaPad S10

The netbook craze is huge. It seems like every day some manufacturers will introduce a new Netbook. In the past few weeks only, a few new Netbooks have been launched. Now, if you wonder what are Netbooks and how are they different from normal laptops, well in essence, Netbooks are laptop computers with much smaller form factor than the standard laptops and thus very portable. This small form-factor has helped in its rapid acceptance by computer users.

Cute netbooks

Anyway, let’s take a quick look at three of the recently launched Netbooks. Maybe we can check what are each Netbook’s pros to let us decidewhich ones to keep, and which to ditch. 🙂

The first one is the LG Xnote Mini. At a glance, I really like the sleek design, should appeal to most people especially female users. Anyway, this new model from LG that sports a 10-inch form factor is claimed to be the lightest ever made by the Korean company! Dubbed Xnote Mini, it is equipped with a 10-inch display with a built-in 1.3-mega pixel web camera. It also features a 160GB hard drive. In addition to that, this latest Netbook from LG is also powered by Intel’s highly successful Atom processor, which will probably deliver a core speed of 1.6GHz.

One of the main features of LG’s Xnote Mini is that it comes with a weight of just 1.19kg, according to the official statement of the company.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin blogs on Blogger

Sergey Brin appears to have started a blog recently on Google’s Blogger (of course). It’s called “too” and located at too.blogspot.com. If you are like many others ask, “What kind of a blog name is TOO?”, well Sergey has expected this and explains in the first post:

While Google is a play on googol, too is a play on the much smaller number – two. It also means “in addition”, as this blog reflects my life outside of work.
