Instant messaging, email and social networks all in one

I have friends using different IM (instant messaging) clients. Some use MSN, others use Yahoo, and a few use Google Talk. So one night, I was chatting online with A and B on MSN, when suddenly an old friend of mine, C, showed up on Yahoo. I switched to Yahoo, while still chatting with A and B on MSN of course. Before long, my dear showed up on Google (I only kept my Google for my dears), ok, now I’ve got A and B on MSN, C on Yahoo, and my dear on Google Talk.

You got the picture.

That was in the past though. Digsby has come to the rescue. I reckon Digsby is the current leader in the multi-protocol IM industry. Why? You’ll find out soon enough.

The very core feature of Digsby is of course, its capabilities in supporting multiple IM protocol. From AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Google Talk, and Jabber to Facebook Chat. Yeah, you heard me right (or rather, …read me right), Digsby DOES integrate seamlessly with your Facebook account. It supports tabs (no more multiple windows), alias (no more wondering who’s that mrniceguy2087).

Another nice feature is that you can minimize your Digsby into the taskbar, when there’s a new IM message, it will pop up a window, and you can reply to that message directly within that pop up window. This is specially handy when you are in the middle of work and not want to switch to your IM windows (reducing and disturbing your work flow) every now and then.

Digsby will also check your email accounts (from Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL/AIM Mail, and any IMAP, and POP accounts) and put a nice little icon on your taskbar, letting you know how many unread emails you’ve got in your email accounts. Click on the icon, and you can quickly see the header and some content preview of all your unread emails. But there’s more, from there, you can either open your Inbox, compose a new message, delete, mark as read, or even archive your emails, straight from Digsby! This is very efficient for an obvious reason, you don’t have to open a new window, or your email client, just to check your emails.

For social networking, Twitter integrates out of the box in Digsby. Update your twitter right from within Digsby! Other than Twitter, it currently supports Facebook, and Myspace accounts too (they claim more will be added in the future). It will even display notifications when your friends added you, when you receive a new messages, or when your contact updates their mini feeds. In short, Digsby handles all!

Digsby widget

You can even put a Digsby widget on your blog, website, or profile which enables you to chat with your visitors!

Of course, beside the superb features I’ve mentioned above, Digsby excels in other areas as well. Great look? No doubt, Digsby sports a nice, user-friendly look, not too plain (Pidgin, anyone?) or too glossy (MSN Live Messenger). You can adjust styles to your preference. In all, Digsby is a great, all-in-one, fully featured, multi-protocol IM client we all have been waiting for.

Well? What’s next? Download Digsby and uninstall all your other instant messaging programs. 🙂
