One of the items in my wish list for 2007 was actually Nintendo Wii. Now, 2007 is coming to its end in a couple of days time… but guess what, I haven’t got myself an Wii yet. Sad. Even sadder, when I realize so many people have bought Wii, Amazon.com reports that Wii were selling at a speedy 17 systems per second on a good day!
The 2007 holiday season allowed Amazon.com to finish their best year ever. The busiest day in 2007 was December 10th. On that day, their customers ordered more than 5.4 million items, or in other words, 62.5 items per second!
Amazon.com ships to over 200 countries, and was able to deliver more than 99% of items on time.
Some trivial in the report are very interesting. Let me share a few of them here:-
- Amazon.com sold enough high-def DVD players to cover seven football fields.
- Amazon.com sold enough GPs units this holiday to make a trail from New York to Philadelphia.
- Amazon.com sold enough auto wrenches to stretch all the way around the Daytona 500 track.
- Amazon.com sold enough Hannah Montana wigs to outfit the entire audience at her December 20th show in Providence, RI.
