Sony Ericsson P1i on a WLAN

31 Dec 2007 In: Sony Ericsson P1i

You all know that I am not good at reviewing stuff. But doesn’t matter, I will do one anyway today about my new baby Sony Ericsson P1i which I have owned for just over a week only… However, I won’t bore you with the technical details or the specs because you can find them all on sites such as CNet Asia.

I will show you something more interesting – the Sony Ericsson P1i on my wireless LAN. But, a hot picture first!

Sexy mobile phone

Next, we look at P1i’s vast connectivity options. The phone supports 3G, Bluetooth, A2DP (means the mobile phone can stream high quality audio to a wireless headset through Bluetooth connection), infrared, USB, and WLAN. I don’t have a 3G account, so not sure how it performs on a 3G connection, but let’s try hooking up the phone through my WIFI (WLAN) network. P1i detected my WLAN without any problem at all and connected to it in a breeze. By the way, my WLAN is WEP protected.

Facebook is perhaps one of the fastest growing Web2.0 online community in 2007. It’s so popular that people even clone it and come up with Hatebook which I covered a while ago.

I believe most of you have tried Facebook and is now a Facebook addict. There are so much fun and cool things you can do on Facebook, but have you thought of what would Facebook look like in 30 years ahead? Check out this screen shot.

One of the items in my wish list for 2007 was actually Nintendo Wii. Now, 2007 is coming to its end in a couple of days time… but guess what, I haven’t got myself an Wii yet. Sad. Even sadder, when I realize so many people have bought Wii, Amazon.com reports that Wii were selling at a speedy 17 systems per second on a good day!

Sexy Wii

The 2007 holiday season allowed Amazon.com to finish their best year ever. The busiest day in 2007 was December 10th. On that day, their customers ordered more than 5.4 million items, or in other words, 62.5 items per second!

Amazon.com ships to over 200 countries, and was able to deliver more than 99% of items on time.

What are the hottest mobile phones in town? If you ask me, I would say they have to be Apple iPhone, Nokia N82, HTC TyTN II or its siblings such as HTC Touch and some of the latest Sony Ericsson models. However, I myself is quite impressed with the awesome touch screen featured in iPhone… blame that on my colleague showing me his big ass iPhone everyday… I fall in love with touch screen.

HTC Touch

I took opportunity of the holiday break and went to check out HTC Touch in Mid Valley. Well, in fact I should have gone to gadget malls such as Low Yat or PJ Digital Mall, but since my girls wanted to do some Christmas shopping, I had to opt for IT World in Mid Valley.

I think anybody who is doing web scripting and web design is well aware of the CSS problems across browsers, especially in Internet Explorer (IE). This is especially true and frustrating with the CSS indentation problem. Holly ‘n John have compiled a list of Internet Explorer CSS bugs on their website if you wanted to take a look.

But if you are looking for a quick solution… then read on. I was doing a quick simple page for a friend of mine when I found myself using the <ul> tag. Check out the following screen shots.

Firefox CSS

<ul style=”margin-left:-15px; color:#3056AE”>
<li>List item 1
<li>List item 2
</ul>

The list looks perfect in Firefox, right or not? I put in “margin-left:-15px” to shift the items to the left slightly. The indentation is just nice. I love you Firefox!
