It’s World Cup year again! Four years down the road after Italy secured victory over France in a dramatic match played in Germany, it’s time for a new campaign of football fever and delights, this time in South Africa!
Nevertheless, before the actual tournament kicks off in June this year, you will be pleased to know that we can experience the interactive adaptation of this awaited tournament two months before the World Cup kicks off in South Africa on the 11th of June.
I am talking about none other than Electronic Arts’ famed football series, the 2010 FIFA World Cup game that would be available on Sony’s PS3 and PSP, the Xbox 360, Nintendo’s Wii (in addition to mobile and computer platforms as well).
Date of release is currently set on the 27 April 2010. But keep your fingers crossed for an earlier release as demand mounts!
Improvements this time include enhancements on location information (for example players would tire faster when the pitch is at higher altitude as well as teams perform better on home soil), as well as an increase in the number of nations taking part in the game (199 in total from qualification matches).
Several other visual (red female fans in the crowd, players on the bench, improved lighting, fan emotions display etc) and game-play (read improved players, more variety of skills and tactics, quick free kick taking abilities, etc) enhancements can also be anticipated, so brace yourself for an all-new, outstanding version of EA Sports’ 2010 FIFA World Cup game that would serve as an excellent appetizer before the real tournament gets underway!

As a proud South African I just can not describe the buzz in our country, with the kickoff 109 days away and the major stadiums all ahead of schedule there is just n stopping this soccer behemoth! I can not wait for kick-off, and although our team gains automatic entry because we’re the host nation, I fear that our expectations have to be realistic, and advancing beyond the pool stages seem like an insurmountable task.

I have always enjoyed EA’s Fifa video game series. I was really into them back when Fifa 93 & 94 were out. My interest in soccer video games faded since. This game looks really good though. I might have to finally add a new soccer game to my collection.

Looks like an awesome game. I am just mad at EA since I hear rumors they are taking away NCAA basketball. This comes just after buying out ncaa 2k and now there will be no college basketball games

While the whole world is agog, I hope that South Africa gets its act together to host this important tournament.
It is interesting that before the real tournament, we can play it on virtual life!

I’ve always been a fan of the FIFA series, even though at times the updates were pretty cosmetic between each year. This version looks good and has some nice, new features so definitely worth getting for a futbol fan, no doubt.
Till then,

I hope my 3 years old laptop with Geforce 8600M GS is able to run it… else I’ll need to run on my Quad core desktop :p Improvement like location information seems interesting, hopefully the game will bring a whole new experience to all players.

Well, I’m not a fan of video games (too old for that) but looking at your post it seems that video games have gone a long way since I was a kid playing on commodore 64!

For me, I’d much rather play a sports game on a console. A computer is better for shooting & rpg games. I just wish console games were cheaper. I probably won’t buy this game right away if it’s at the typical $60+ price.

Nice post. I will buy this one. EA sports is still the best in sports games to top gaming consoles like xbox.

EA have themselves made a statement that the game is going to be better than FIFA 10 but I believe FIFA 10 is a tough act to follow for any game. I use to be a pro evo fanboy but they’ve been really disappointing for the last few years.
