Introducing the new iSlate? iGuide? iScreen? iPad?
Brace yourself this 2010, for another outstanding innovation from Apple – the company that has remained true to its witty slogans: Beauty outside, Beast inside; 1,000 songs in your pocket; and 25,000 apps and counting.
The Tablet PC is hardly new in the market, but somehow has not taken off in a huge way since its comeback in 2002. However, users can surely count on Apple to revolutionise the way we look at this digital device.

Artist rendering of the Apple Tablet
Apple analyst, Gene Munster predicts the arrival of the Apple Tablet sometime in the first half of 2010.
According to The Business Insider, selected Apple developers have been pre-empted on the likelihood of a product demo next month. The Financial Times has also reported speculation that Apple will be hosting a major event in January to launch the new Apple Tablet.
We can expect nothing less from Steve Jobs than to pull another theatrical presentation leaving the audience yet again in awe.
Up until now, Apple is still denying the existence of such a device but judging from the massive hype surrounding this subject, the odds of it materialising is pretty high.
So, how do observers expect Apple to turn this plain Jane of a device into an irresistibly sexy foxtress?
How big is it?
Smaller than a Macbook but bigger than an iPhone. There have been many speculations on the size, but generally, it is expected to be between 7 to 10 inches in screen size.
How much will it cost?
USD700 to USD900 (RM2,400 – RM3,100) according to Apple industry insiders
What are the features?
Cool Aesthetics: Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating, Widescreen multi-touch display
Wireless Connectivity: 3G, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G LTE
Navigational Tools: Assisted GPS (aGPS), Digital Compass
Multimedia Lover’s Haven: Able to read e-books (hold off on that Amazon Kindle purchase just yet!), browse the web, listen to music, watch movies, write notes, work on spreadsheets.
Small but Powerful: Able to handle complex 3D rendering, HD videos and support much more sophisticated games compared to the iPhone.
How will it look like? Your guess is as good as mine, but here are some possibilities…
At last, a device that looks cooler than an iPhone and packs the punch of a Macbook. I don’t know about you but I am bursting with excitement and anticipation for this new baby!
Can you picture all those yuppies showing off their Apple iSlate in Starbucks and Coffee Bean?

I could see the following being a trend….. the apple table gaining popularity among students to use in the classroom. I know currently I saw a student in my Statistics class this semester using a tablet laptop he was using it to take notes on and add notes on the power-point presentation given by the professor.
Till then,

Apple tends to be the trend-setter nowadays. And as an Apple fan, i really can’t wait to see this new device. I also think that it’s going to rebuild the dying publication and newspaper industry (and maybe, some new and more creative applications and games).

Simply fantastic product, It is like Apples answer to the “netbook”. When they come out in Australia I will be one of the first people to have one. Can’t Wait!

I am drooling. Can’t wait to lay my hands on this beauty. Price a bit on the high side, but what the heck? Or should I wait for six months and let the price fall? What a dilemma!

I just read about the new tablet and as others have said is Apple’s response to the netbook. It does look pretty cool, but I am sure it will be overpriced just like all of Apple’s other products.

It sounds like a pretty slick device. I think this would have more commercial applications such as in health care or in the field for engineers. I don’t think it would be very practical for anything involving much typing. Then again, I’m sure it will include voice recognition software.

I hope they will not lock it to specific carrier. One of the main reasons I didn’t get an iPhone is they force you to use Maxis.

I doubt the price would fall much after only 6 months. If anything, Apple would release a bare bones version down the road to appeal to those with a lower budget.

I’m always reluctant to buy the first release of anything new, but I may make an exception with this. I love the idea – love the “feel” of my Ipod Touch so I’m looking forward to this tablet.

Here’s the thing about these mockup images, they all look great, but probably none of them are close to the real version coming out soon. But that’s a good thing, the same thing happened with the iphone except Apple’s actualy iPhone ended up way cooler then any mockup.
Another thing, do you think .mobi sites will become much more popular?

This looks great, anything that apple creates always sells well regardless of its price. So Im sure this product will not be any different. Everyone will line up at the apple store the day it comes out and wait in line for it.

Apple HQ is playing on the fact that we’ve been waiting for this from Apple for a long time so iSlate – iS late – is a very apt pre-launch name!
