Can you believe this? Windows 95 can actually run on iPhone! With the help of Bochs emulator and an original Windows 95 image, a group of developers have managed to install and run Microsoft Windows 95 on Apple’s iPhone.
Unfortunately, the performance was terrible… not surprisingly. The team is eager to try the hack on iPhone 3GS but have yet to find one.

They are trying to get Windows XP to work too! And perhaps Vista or Windows 7 afterward.

Hahahahah! Imagine that! Windows 95 running on an iPhone. The old enemy is allowed on board! Jokes aside, I won’t wish Windoes 95 and the blue screen of death on anyone!

Jacques,
You can try Windows Vista or Windows 7 on iPhone… should be quite stable, but need to run on 3GS otherwise it will be hell slow!
Afif,
For the fun of it… haha, perhaps you can then play Minesweeper and all the other Windows games on it. Also to be able to run Internet Explorer and Firefox on iPhone perhaps?

But then, they should add “Ctrl+Alt+Delete” hardware buttons on the iphone
Anyway, hopefully it’s just “proof of concept” experiment…. who the heck in his right mind will want to run Windows on iPhone.

I am not surprise as that OS is so backdated and not to mention the “Blue Screen” killer. Why would anyone want to run a win95 on iphone? Hm…

I agree that it is likely just a proof of concept experiment. I don’t think they really want to run windows 95 on their iphone. I think they just want to show that it can be done. For someone who relies on MS Office documents, this could be a very useful ability.

Wow! Windows 95.. haha that brings back memories. Lol I can bet the performance is terrible. I agree with Afif, It’s a bit perplexing as to why anyone would want to have such an outdated os…. To each his own I guess.

This is just the beginning. They should try installing Windows XP or Mac OS. Would be awesome to see. Performance would lag due to slow memory.

The youtube video didn’t load for me, but if this is true that’s amazing. My memories of wind 95 of it slowly grinding to a halt and then crashing every 15 minutes but sitll if it can run on an iphone there’s a lot of utilities that you could run on it.

Pretty cool! I don’t have an iPhone myself, but it’s kinda of cool to know what I could possibly have on my iPhone if I do ever get one!

Wouldn’t this unite the haters… The Windows haters can gnash their teeth at their beloved being sullied and the Mac haters can gnash their teeth at their beloved running on the most heinous product from the den of evil.
Actually I think this is the beginning of a new dawn! Where the haters unite against their common foe, interoperability! haha

I wouldn’t install this on my iphone, because I’m sure all it would do was lag. It is pretty cool they were able to do it.

Pity it performed so badly. Maybe soon we can change OS on them – Not saying there is anything wrong with it now
