It seems like just a few days after launching their new version, Maybank2u has perhaps realized the new version is more difficult for its users to use, and has thus reverted to the classic version. I thought this sort of thing should not have happened, they should have done enough user experience and system testing to make sure everything is OK first, before launching…
Anyway, Maybank2u now has this notice on the homepage.

Well, clicking on the login link will automatically direct you to the old login page.

So, what do you think? You prefer the old classic version which works, or the more fancy newer version?

I think I prefer the older version because we have the hang of navigating it and this new system can be scary because you are dealing with money and not everyone is computer savvy .
The new system can have bugs and it is no laughing matter when you use the new system.
The new system told me that payment was unsuccessful but it went through and as a result I paid twice for my credit card dues. Lucky it was just for a small amount only.
If it is not broken , don’t fix it.

that makes me thinking…there’s some issues that Maybank overlooked..i don’t think it’s because of the new interface…like facebook…people will need to accept it sooner or later..i think this is because of the slowness new M2U facing..i doubt Maybank will let go of the new website…they must spend a lot for the new Maybank interface..

I don’t really care if they are using the new or old version, most important it must be secure and user friendly! But this reversal kind of thing should not have happened. Like you said, don’t they test it out to make sure there’s no flaws or shortcomings before launching it?

Some people don’t like the new interface, but I think they revert back to old version because they facing some performance issue, one of my friend told me, the website respond slow when maybank2u switch to new interface.

Maybank2u new version was really slow. Took me ages to login and surf around. I’m relieved they put back the old version!

Laura1318,
That’s a very serious problem. No wonder Maybank2u decided to revert back so fast. Their technical team will have a hard time now.
QuaChee,
Yep, I am shocked to learn this too!
|1f34|-|1r3,
They should have just hired Kitkat to do it la. haha… guarantee bugs free! Why it’s slow I wonder… must be the new applications they are using, perhaps the older version was running on Java and the newer version was running on Microsoft!
foongpc,
Next time better launch a Beta version for selected users to test drive first.

emotionalistic,
Me too! They should gave us Beta version on a test server to test test first.
fuyichin,
Performance issue… maybe many users login to test and got hooked to the more fancy interface and stayed online for hours. That’s why they had the performance problem! Haha…
yogi,
They need to fire their technical team!

Change is always good, but they should’ve done more testing and research before launching it. Silly.

I heard the new site came crashing down a lot, so might as well revert to something that works.
Malaysian Banks - Down but Not Out : Horizon.my
November 5th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
[...] Having said that COMMERZ is probably licking its wounds over the recent bond trading losses and its Thai acquisition. But this is a fraction of MAYBANK’s Indonesian woes, a foolish move that has enriched a few while costing shareholders RM10 billion or more in lost market cap. At peak MAYBANK’s market cap was around RM45 billion….today it is a pathetic RM21 billion. What was once Malaysia’s leading retail bank is now (sorry to say) a little bit of a laughing stock in the industry. Just look at the recent launch of its new Maybank2u website and what some leading tech bloggers had to say about it. [...]
