Starting a blog and publishing new posts are super easy that these days even a primary school kid can do it without much problem. The difference is to make the blog reach out to a sizable readers and maintain them. So what are the factors that make a blog tick so your readers will come and stay?

Blogging hard

Sarah Austin from Search Engine Journal has explained the essence of how to make a blog appealing to an audience. You don’t want to read the long article, but it can be summarized into four points:

Write Strong: Be passionate and have thorough knowledge on what you write.
Write Tight: Choose few words to make the greatest impact.
Write Right: Grammar matters. Always.
Write Easy: Make your content interactive and easy to comprehend.

These points are great to maintain a blog but to get it off the ground you nevertheless need to leverage on the social media sites and use every channel of communication for actively or passively marketing your blog. After all its your product and as will every product, it needs to be marketed. One technique that I always found useful in getting new people to visit your site is to include the blog address in the signature of your e-mail. It not only spreads the message to the near and dear ones, but also to your new contacts as well.

Another point to note is to write about something tangible and that makes an immediate impact on people who read it. It is one reason why blogs on making money online are so popular. I know this does not fit well with everyone but you should try to convey the benefit of reading your blog to your reader.

And last but not least, your site should aesthetically fit in with all the ads and be easy on the eyes. Ads are the primary sources of revenue but cramming every nook and corner with banners does not look good. If possible choose unique layouts that make your site stand out from the rest.
