I was browsing through Nikon’s website and was delighted to learn that they have just introduced a new DSLR named D60. The D60 has the same compact lightweight body and easy to use control layout compared to similar models from Nikon such as the D40 and D40X.
Just like the D40X, D60 doesn’t have the built-in focus drive motor which means it can auto focus only with motor lenses (AF-S and AF-I lenses). This must be the biggest turn off for serious amateur photographers.
Anyway, at least Nikon include a couple of innovative features in this latest DSLR, they include:
I think D60 is a really good buy if you are looking to step up to DSLR photography and thinking of getting your first entry level DSLR. D60 is a wonderful choice for photo enthusiasts looking for remarkable performance in a compact package. Like the hugely popular Nikon D40x, D60 sports a visually intuitive LCD information display, in-camera editing tools and exciting creative options, all these make D60 a much more fun and easier DSLR to use!
Not sure on the pricing yet and of course it may take a while before this model arrives Malaysia. If you can’t wait try D40X at about RM2500, or if you are willing to spend then look for D80 at about RM3800.

Syahid A.,
I thought D50 has stopped long time ago?
KY,
I don’t really like Canon. Maybe because I see more people carrying Nikon.

iCalvyn,
But your D80 looks really awesome and much better compared to D40, or D40X.
Not so fast, not until D60 is available in Malaysia.

Nikon D60 price in Malaysia is really competitive. I just asked my supplier, he say it’s RM2380 for the whole package which includes:
- D60 body
- Kit lens which is 18-55mm VR
- 2GB card, bag and tripod
If you do not want the accessories (memory card, bag and tripod), can get RM2200.
Let me know if you want to buy from him, or if you can find a better deal elsewhere.

naz,
You mean the external flash? Of course it’s not included. The SB600 costs roughly RM750, and SB800 costs roughly RM1300. Anyway, you should be able to do most shots using the included internal flash.
chinot,
I suggest you check out JOne in Amcorp Mall. Jason is a very nice fella, he should be able to give you a good deal.
