Everyone complain his Internet connection is slow. Those who are using Tmnet dial-up say so… those who are using Streamyx also complain Tmnut is cheating on them because they do not notice any speed improvement, or more precisely constant disconnection especially when they are using Bittorent to download movies! Let’s test our Internet speed today and see if your’s is slower than mine! We use Speedtest.net.
For the uninformed, Speedtest.net is a free broadband speed test with servers located all over the world so that you can get more accurate testings. Get your test results and compare with others from the same area, or even from other parts of the world.

Now, Speedtest.net shows us the actual download and upload speed, not what Tmnet claims what you will get! For my case, I am on a 512kbps package with a monthly subscription fee of RM66. My test results average to: 200KB/S download, 102KB/S upload. Is yours slower or faster than mine?
Do you think it will help by much if I were to upgrade to the Streamyx 1.0Mbps package? Or do you think Maxis broadband is a better option? — I heard not much good recommendations from Maxis broadband users, although I really like it’s portability/mobile connectivity feature… you get 3G or at least GPRS connection on the move with its wireless capability.

TM Net sucks, because the line is pretty unreliable in my area (Kampung Desa Aman), need to call them countless time to refresh connection. So many times I have to switch off, switch on Modem…
Maxis broadband sounds promising, however they have limited coverage area.

Although my Streamyx package is 1mbps, my download speed is always under 800kbps, never go higher

soowm,
As long as Maxis has good connection in your area, then it’s good enough. The mobility it provides is just an added advantage.
KennyP,
Wow, your’s is fast! Don’t complain anymore lar!
mcass,
Yours is just like mine!

800 is really fast!! But, if want to try mobile broadband, give a try for Maxis3G rather than Celcom3G, which is a TM product too. TM seems can’t provide good service in term of support and products, let it bankrupt, one day.

vhanded,
Maxis 3G looks quite promising but I understand their coverage is not too great now. And their minimum commitment is 1 year, so kind of difficult to decide should give it a try or not.
