I was in Mid Valley Megamall the other day and happened to walk past a computer store in the IT Center. The 3 hugh antennas on this Dlink router caught my attention. Why do you need 3 antennas on a router?

Upon further inspection, I realized it’s to boost the wireless range of the router so that you will not have any connectivity problem from as far as a few hundred meters. Notice it always claims it’s 650% faster than ordinary 802.11G? Wow, that’s a large number, but I wonder will this router help in boosting Streamyx connection speed? It will be an instant hot cake if it did help in Streamyx connection!

But then I realized it’s a router which has nothing to do with the connection to Streamyx. A router only functions within a LAN to connection multiple network devices together. A modem is the device that connects to Streamyx and the Internet.
Now the million dollar question: Have you came across any device that seems to be able to boost your Streamyx connection speed?
By the way, have you checked out my latest program EasyPic? It’s a free little program to help you resize and do simple editing on your photos before you put in your blog. It’s designed with bloggers in mind! Download it now!

Best way is to connect straight to a T3 backbone in Cyberjaya. Get 500% boost in Internet connection speed. O.o

Firstly, your laptop/desktop wireless connection need to support the tx speed, not all supports that…
If they do, then it only boost up the speed between the router to the computer, and it will do nothing at Streamyx end..

How can you get 650% boots when your wifi card is only capable of 100%.
Is it a router and card package. My netgear works like the but i need 108 capable cards.

I DONT KNOW ABT YOU GUYS BUT WHEN I WAS USING THE MODEM PROVIDED BY STREAMYX WHICH IS RINGER DB102 THE MAXIMUM DOWNLOAD I EVER HAD WAS 100KBPS FOR DIRECT DOWNLOADS. BUT SINCE IVE CHANGED TO THIS AZTECH DSL600EW ROUTER IM GETTING MAX 345 KBPS ON DIRECT DOWNLOADS BUT NORMALLY 200KBPS. AND IN P2P DOWNLAODS IN SOFTWARES SUCH AS LIMEWIRE IM GETTING MAX 198KBPS BUT USUALLY ABT 120 TO 150. I THINK THAT IS A PRETTY GOOD DOWNLOAD SPEED FOR A 1MB LINE.
for five years ive been researching in bittorrent in malaysia and ive found out that malaysia is seriously limiting our p2p usage. at first i was getting only about 5kbps per torrent but one day i subscribed to this software called steganos internet anoynym and believe it or not my speed went from 5kbps to 166kbps in just 10 seconds. im not gonna post any screenshots here but if you really want some proof add my msn : arvin_1108@hotmail.com
