If you’re still using DOS or console mode programs that output results to the screen directly, you maybe looking for a way to capture what’s displayed on the screen. There is no popup menu, no drop down menu… so, how to copy and paste data from and to the screen/program?
Let me share with you a handy tip to copy the data.

- In the DOS window, right click on the title bar of the window.
- Select Edit > Mark.
- Use the mouse to click and highlight the data that you want to copy. Press ENTER when you are done. Now the data you have selected is copied to the clipboard.

- Switch to the Windows program that you want to paste the data onto, and select its paste function like how you do normally.

Excellent. How much have we forgotten about DOS that’s still useful. The number of people I work with who don’t know about keyboard commands- unbelieveable

The number of times I have to use DOS still frightens me. Where I can I use cygwin, but has bash command-line and great cut-n-paste options.
Think the command-line will never die.
